Plan a visit in 2018 to a National Park for Free

Mark your calendars for these four dates with free admission to national parks

By:  NENA FARRELL at Sunset Magazine

Start planning, because the National Parks Service has announced its 2018 dates for free entry into its parks. While last year had ten chances for a free visit, the National Park Service has only chosen four opportunities for 2018.

Head to your favorite national park in the West for free admission on:

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (January 15)
The start of National Park Week (April 21)
National Public Lands Day (Sept. 22)
Veterans Day (Nov. 11)

Many parks are free to enter already or only cost a few dollars, like Redwood National Park and Muir Woods, but larger parks like the Grand Canyon, Zion, Yellowstone, and Yosemite ordinarily cost up to $25 per vehicle to enter. The National Parks Service recently proposed raising fees as high as $70 per vehicle for popular parks such as Joshua Tree and the Grand Canyon as early as May 2018, so take advantage of these dates while you can.

As always, I appreciate referrals from my friends and past clients.
